Mike Broihier (Broy-yer) is a retired Marine and farmer. In 2021, he began writing

full time while traveling the country in an RV with his wife, Lynn, also a retired Marine.

Idiot Wind was his first novel, published in 2022.

As a Marine, he served with units based in Korea, Japan, North Carolina, and afloat in the Mediterranean Sea. He commanded several artillery batteries while stationed in Twentynine Palms, CA, and led a provisional rifle company in Mogadishu during the Somali Civil War. Broihier worked as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan and Djibouti.

After retiring from the Marines, Broihier and his wife bought a farm in Kentucky, raising all-natural asparagus for food co-ops, farmers’ markets and farm-to-table restaurants for 17 years.

From 2007 to 2012, Broihier wrote for The Interior Journal, Kentucky’s third oldest newspaper, and in 2009 was named editor. He received multiple Kentucky Press Association Awards for news writing, editorials, and photography.

Broihier is a graduate of Rutgers University and the Naval Postgraduate School.

Broihier was an adjunct faculty member of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the University of California, Berkeley.
